LAUNCH OF THE NEW DIOCESAN VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT
Bishop Bethlehem launched the new Vision and Mission Statement:

Vision
• The Diocese of Port Elizabeth is a Christ-centered family of diverse communities within The Anglican Church of Southern Africa, called to be:
• Holistic in our growth
• Prophetic in our witness to the whole gospel, and
• Excellent in our ministry.

Mission statement
• Our mission is to grow the Kingdom of God both numerically and spiritually:
• By making disciples, building communities, and growing leaders;
• By proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of God, the Father;
• By caring for one another, and for the world around us;
• By developing relationships and partnerships with other Christian communities.

Priorities
• To realise this vision, and fulfill our mission at parish and diocesan level, we shall:

• Proclaim : Enable each of our members to articulate, defend, and proclaim their faith with passion and clarity, and enable our lay and ordained leaders to understand, interpret, and proclaim the Holy Scriptures.

• Seek excellence: Seek excellence in our ministries, strategies, structures, operations, training and resources.

• Engage with the world: Grasp opportunities to engage with the wider community, to witness prophetically to our society on socio-political and other contextual challenges.

• Embrace the young: Prioritise and engage with children, young people, and young adults, welcoming them into our worshiping communities, equipping them for their own ministries, and enabling them as disciples and witnesses.

• Grow the church: Grow viable and sustainable urban and rural ministries.

• Manage Resources: Manage our diocesan resources through good stewardship of property, finance and people.

Each Parish to be provided with a laminated copy of the statement.
