The Shofar has sounded
The Shofar has sounded. The call has gone out to both Christians and Jews that, unless they heed the warnings, there will soon be another holocaust.

Johannes Facius, a well known Christian pastor and writer, visited Port Elizabeth on Sunday night 19 September to warn Christians and Jews of his deep concern about the rise in anti-Semitism among Arab/Muslim nations and in Europe, as well as an increased fervour to deny and minimise the reality of the holocaust. He came to show a documentary video, “Lest we Forget”, because he believes there is a clear and present danger to Jewish people around the world today. In the video he speaks out against these lies, saying, “Some of the state-run media and education systems in many Arab countries are set to de-humanise the Jewish people and de-legitimise the State of Israel. In many respects, lies propagated today are alarmingly similar to those spread by the Nazis during World War II.”

Introducing the documentary, he said he was in New York on 9/11 and asked the Lord what he should do about what was going on and the Lord showed him the need to sound the shofar and warn His people, both Jew and Christian, of the approaching danger. He felt led to produce a documentary about anti-Semitism, past and present, to open the eyes of God’s people because they are not reading the warning signs, while the people of the world are listening to the Palestinian propaganda which is frighteningly similar to that which Adolf Hitler used.

Pictures: "The one who does not remember history is bound to live through it again" - Ken Simpson and Laura Charlewood hold a copy of the video of "Lest we Forget" while Johannes Facius, the producer, looks on. 2) Cover of video (DVD also available).

The documentary is an eye-opener, even for many who thought they were wide-awake to what is happening. It shows the similarities to what was happening 65 years ago and just how the same sort of indoctrination is taking place in the Middle East and Europe today. Johannes reminded listeners, “Over 6 000 000 Jews were annihilated in gas chambers during the Second World War, but remember, the total deaths of Christians, Jews and others was over 40 000 000.” The video reminds one of George Sontyana’s words, “The one who does not remember history is bound to live through it again.”

God's Smuggler visits PE
Brother Andrew, known throughout the Christian world as “God’s Smuggler”, visited Port Elizabeth recently and shared where God has led him to minister in the years since he stopped smuggling Bibles into Russia.

This great visionary, teaching servant of God spoke to a large audience at the UPE Indoor Stadium on 23 September. He encouraged, inspired and most of all challenged the church in South Africa to stay involved in those areas where faith is costing most. He spoke of our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted for their faith in Moslem countries and the need for the church to really give sacrificially in reaching out to them. He said, “Make sure that everyone of them has a Bible, because I have one. Make sure that every one of them has clothes, because I have. Make sure that every one of them can read, because I can.”

Br Andrew believes that all terrorists are reachable and therefore winable. The leader of the Hisbolah said to him, “The trouble with Christians is that they do not follow the life of Jesus Christ - you must go back to the Book.” Then he said, “We Muslims have a problem too, we are not following the life of Mohammed. We, too, need to go back to the book.” Br Andrew then challenged the audience, saying, “We need to get ‘The Book’ to them, to win them for Jesus.”

This year is the fiftieth anniversary of the outreach programme, Open Doors, which Br Andrew began in 1954.

A winner gives back
Phyllida Sandan, who won one of the two Toyota Tazz prizes last year, has been helping sell tickets for this year’s competition.

She was so thrilled with her win last year that she immediately offered to be part of the team selling Christmas Cheer tickets in aid of the House of Resurrection Haven this year. November is the last month to buy tickets before the draw on 4 December, and readers are reminded to make sure they buy from those selling for the Haven, so that the Haven can reach their target.

Picture: A winner helps out - Last years' Tazz winner, Phyllida Sandan, and her friend, Shirley Bacon, sell some tickets to John Nel.

Many parishes have people selling tickets, otherwise during November tickets will be available on:
• Friday 5 and Saturday 6 outside Game at the Bridge and at Shoprite Cleary Park;
